Yes Steve Martin is back as Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther 2. He is a heavily discussed comic. This fella I grew up loving when I was renting his movies for 5 bucks from the Cobram Video Hut. The Man with Two Brains was great even though I was 9 years old and really didn’t understand what was going on. The movie Roxanne also was fantastic. This film especially stood out for me because I got to see a guy with a long nose trying to get it on with Darryl Hannah. That was a round the time I started to get my own urges for Darryl Hannah. I was riddled with guilt that I had a thing for someone called Darryl.

A man that has been one of the kings of American comedy for the last 40 odd years has been making movies that some feel aren’t up to his standards. The first Pink Panther was a modest hit and apparently kids seemed to love it. Even if I will never see the Pink Panther and probably won’t see the second one it doesn’t mean I’m not a fan of Steve Martin’s work.

I’ve interviewed him a few times and he has always proved to be tough. Give him a script, that he has written, and he is brilliant. Watch him do his bits on Letterman and he smashes it. Get him off the cuff and he struggles to keep up. And that’s coming from me who is usually a few steps slower than a guy with one leg and no foot.

The big news is that he will surpassed by Alec Baldwin for hosting Saturday Night Live very soon. Also Mr Martin has a banjo record out. He is known as one of the greats in the world at paying banjo!! Watch his SNL performance of the banjo below. If you like banjo, watch the whole thing. If not, just watch it for a minute to see how good he is with his fingers; they move pretty quick for a bloke with grey hair.
